The Nuclear Option is on the Table
-
Senator Reid of Nevada, the Senate Majority Leader, is in a tight spot to say the least. So much so, that no one on the left is willing to discount the likelihood that the Majority Party will use the "Nuclear Option".
Considering the dirty politics used to con the Blue Dog Democrats into aiding Nancy Pelosi with her strong arming of the highly controversial HR 3962, there is not a conservative who honestly believes that the socialist-left of the country won't try to force feed this health care bill upon the American People.
In fact, despite the innocuous name of the bill, Michael Tanner at Real Clear Politics reports that HR 3962 is a monument to government sanctioned force.
"...It's hard to see the 1,994-page bill that the House passed last night as anything else. After all, the bill uses the command 'shall' -- as in 'you shall do this,' 'businesses shall do that' and 'government shall do some other thing' -- 3,345 times."
"To make sure that we obey these 'shalls,' the bill would create 111 government agencies, boards, commissions and other bureaucracies -- all overseen by a new health-care czar bearing the Orwellian title 'commissioner of health choices.'"
This is a benchmark in the contest between the right and left sides of the political spectrum. Traditionally, the United States political spectrum was the battle between the Christian and religious interests and the traditional scientific and skepticism based freedomists. In the last twenty years, however, the battle has metamorphosed into one with anarchists, populists, collectivists, and other chaos-based and totalitarian groups on one side; and fiscal and social conservatives, libertarians and faith-based groups on the other.
The problem, is modern liberalism. Modern liberalism wants to believe that the people that we elect to office actually have the best interests of the nation as their priority. Sadly, and paradoxically, we don't trust our politicians to tell the truth or deal honestly with us.
That is the flaw that the Obama Campaign keyed in on. He used lofty and high spoken rhetoric to chime rather harmoniously with our desire for a better life, one without poverty or suffering. The beauty of his speeches was so mesmerizing that even his staunch critics missed many of the clear indicators of his more radical agenda.
Now, the Socialist-Left is going to have to justify the red-tape-clad iron fist of its health care reform package. More than that, I now want the people who supported this thing to list the reasons why they support this bill.
I want them to explain how they could allow themselves to be conned by platitudes, when this monstrosity promises nothing less than the collapse of our economy due to extreme entitlement spending and the loss of every kind of liberty that can be imagined.
This bill sanctions the murder of our senior citizens, our parents, in sacrifice for our children. However, this bill simultaneously guarantees that our children will not only have to live in abject poverty, but will have to do so under the boots of a bureaucrat who will ultimately determine not only whether they live or die, but exactly how high the quality of their lives shall be.
We are about to replay the Fall of the Roman Republic. Sadly, that re-enactment will likely pass under the thunderous roar of an avarice-laden moocher class, and over the shrill howling of an over-encumbered and oppressed productive class; just like the original.
