Now Obama’s senior economic adviser, Paul Volcher, is recommending that the administration inflict on the American people a European style Value Added Tax (VAT). This is a tax that politicians love because by law it is hidden from the person that must pay it, the consumer, just like the hidden taxes on every gallon of gasoline.

The Value Added Tax (VAT) will not eliminate any existing taxes, it would be an additional tax. Another reason politicians love it is because they can raise the tax rate at anytime and the consumer will never know it because it is against the law to show the amount of the VAT on the consumer’s purchase receipts.

The Virginia couple who allegedly crashed a White House state dinner is tied to Rashid Khalidi, a pro-Palestinian professor who excuses terrorism and has been a close associate to President Obama.

Michaele and Tareq Salahi met Obama in a receiving line at last week's event, with a "deeply concerned and embarrassed" Secret Service stating it never checked whether the two were on the White House guest list.

The Service Employees International Union has demonstrated a history of blatant "pay-to-play" political tactics. And "pay-to-play" is probably why the SEIU has been at the forefront of promoting ObamaCare, with a "robust" public option.

It never ceases to amaze me how differently the Old Media treats Republican presidents compared to how they treat Democrat Presidents during times of unemployment reporting. Today, in the vaunted era of Obama, the unemployment numbers for November 2009 have come out and it shows some of the highest unemployment numbers since the Great Depression. Despite that the Old Media seems to be playing this as a sign of optimism. Such optimism was decidedly not in the cards when that same Old Media was reporting rates during Bush's years, however.

Therefore, it dismays me to see the qualification of our troop surge into Afghanistan not as what is it is but what politically sounds pleasant. As the valiant world superpower remaining on this earth, the US military has a long and glorious past in nation building. Politics aside, every major war we have fought began as efforts to defend not only our freedom, but other nations’ citizens. In the end, we helped rebuild their cities, schools, and government systems. So hearing our President simultaneously announce a quick Afghan exit strategy smacks of isolationism and shows a misunderstanding of our history. The term “drink the Kool-Aid” is used to describe blind acceptance of something, whether it be a high stress work environment, an order from a superior, or membership in a particular group. This term is commonly used in American politics and corporate culture, typically by outside commentators, who might say that someone is “drinking the Kool-Aid.” People will also tell each other not to drink the Kool-Aid, in the hopes of encouraging people to open their eyes to a situation before it is too late.

There are two different explanations for the origin of this phrase. Some people argue that it is a reference to the Kool-Aid Acid Tests administered by Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters in the 1960s. These tests were framed as challenges to the followers of the Merry Pranksters, and they involved drinking Kool-Aid that had been laced with LSD, informally known as acid.
